Breaking Windows

It looks like the Gates monopoly/Windows dynasty may be dying very nastily in the near future.
Galt-in-Da-Box followed Twitter leads this AM to this web page, detailing plans for the launch of an open-source (presumably Linux) coded operating system from none other than Google later this year. All bad things eventually come to an end...Thankfully! If it is the Linux/Unix open-source code or derivative, Mac users will have the option also, from what I understand.
We'll add this to our Network Affiliates so you can keep apprised of the latest news on this also.

This is comforting:

a new windowing system on top of a Linux kernel.

But this is troubling:

and most of the user experience takes place on the web.

You really don't want to be running your apps on the Web. It's far more secure to be running your apps isolated from the Web.
