They Can Have "How The Other Half Lives"!

Not the greener grass you might have expected.
Cases I saw: One man whose name you would recognize if I were to put it here ended his days in a home not his own, in the care of a landlady who could not help but pity his haplessness and valued him more than his family. A fine couple have no choice but to watch their only daughter waste away, due to the incompetence of SocMed north of the border, and the permanent damage it inflicted at birth in the name of "health care". An elderly man raises his family of three sons virtually alone while his wife is never with them; out traveling, at parties or otherwise on the social circuit spending him into destitution and letting the hearth-home rot. There's the woman who defrauded one man of his progeny and another of his wealth, only to live in isolation in conditions that rival "trailer trash". Still another woman married well and built a great big beautiful home...where she never lives! There was a business baron in New York who never washed or hired his clothing laundered, just bought new every day for the morrow, and perished in the squalid midst of his own accumulated, indoor junk yard. I've only seen similar conditions in abject poverty, yet these folks were well-to-do, often very wealthy. I'm close to calling it Howard Hughes Disorder because it's in the running for the most pitiful thing Galt-in-Da-Box has encountered. How is it possible that a multi-millionaire or billionaire ends up no better off than that junkie on the downtown street corner? How the hell could you not have anything better to do with time and resources? Just the contemplation of it sends yours truly's WTF-ometer off the scale...
Going the last year or so there were times of lamenting the waste of my life, and now I see there's nothing really at all to worry about by comparison - which boggles the mind!

Extra:
Wherein Galt-in-Da-Box attempts to answer his own jaded question...
I think they end up no better than junkies or trailer trash (a misnomer if I ever heard it, because I've found more honesty and morality among the working folk than I ever did from religionists and upper-crust) because we brought nothing into this world, and it's certain we will carry nothing out. There are two kinds of wealthy people: Those with tons of jack, and those who have no needs. I'll opt for the latter category, thanks. Those folks don't own their fortunes, their fortunes own them! Somewhere they bought into the lie that phat bank = conferred divinity. The reality is, ability to buy indulgences or pay off human government does not equate to righteousness or verity. If that's what the world calls "successful", I'll take being what they consider a nothing and nobody any day, time or hour. Let them claim to be the most honest person you ever met while bullshiting themselves into an early grave. In the end, it's not you or I they have to answer to, or impress...
Time and continual Federal indebtedness will tell just what that alleged "wealth" of fiat paper turns out to actually be worth (not a hell of a lot, if history is any indication)!
