Forbidden Technology?

Like, let's say for example, nuclear power plants in The States?
Or high-speed, coast-to-coast rail transit (like the shit that makes possible non-stop from London to Paris in 90 minutes for a little over $3). Five'll get you twenty you never hear about this on the evening news...ever! Former President Johnny-Reb and his Khazakh oil middlemen and backers might see their phat jack disappear. Galt-in-Da-Box has been pondering these matters at great length given the current state of things: WTF is up with U.S. still burning coal for electricity AT ALL, when we had the brains to put almost all our Navy on nuke long ago? We could do it - 40 years ago in fact, they were talking about high-speed rail but talk is as far as it went - we have the technology and the power, but not the will. Given the current attitude in and outside of the allegedly-free market/corporate America today, I wouldn't be surprised to find they're waiting for a phat gimme from government to piss away, produce nothing, then demand more.
Somebody's paying, and others are getting paid handsomely to make sure it doesn't happen!

Wow, I'd like to have one of those!
Way out of my price range but I'd still like one.
